Lakes Entrance
Lakes Entrance is a popular tourist destination at the Eastern end of the Gippsland lakes – the largest inland network of waterways in Australia. The lakes cover an area of more than 400km2 and are separated from the ocean by a thin sliver of sand dunes that form a large part of Ninety Mile Beach, which stretches down to Port Albert. A bridge across Cunninghame Arm gives access to the surf beach from the township. The town is well developed for holiday makers and caters for both seaside recreation and exploration of the mountain country to the north. It is the home port for the local fishing fleet and for many pleasure craft.
